Outdoor Leadership Coaching

Let the backcountry echo back who you really are as a leader.

Venture Echo designs immersive coaching experiences in wild places so leaders can see their patterns clearly, practice new moves in real time, and return to work with grounded confidence.

Small-group or 1:1 coaching in forests, ridges, and river corridors—no ropes course required.
Experiential learning tied directly to real decisions, relationships, and pressure at work.
Calm, psychologically safe facilitation focused on insight, not performance or bravado.

Leaders, founders & intact teams — custom outings available from half-day to multi-day.

Why the outdoors?

When the trail speaks, leaders listen.

In the backcountry, distractions disappear. How you navigate uncertainty, conflict, and fatigue becomes unmistakably visible—so we can work with the real thing, not a slide deck version of you.

We use simple, accessible terrain to surface your leadership habits and create space to rehearse new ones, supported by structured coaching conversations.

Approach

Venture Echo combines professional coaching, facilitation, and fieldcraft. Our experiences are not about surviving the wilderness—they’re about learning to lead with more clarity, courage, and presence when the stakes are high.

Every outing starts with your real-world leadership questions: a new role, a stretched team, a frayed partnership, or a season of change. From there, we design a simple outdoor journey that mirrors the dynamics you’re working through.

On trail, we alternate between movement, reflection, and targeted coaching. You’ll test different ways of leading, communicating, and deciding—and see how your choices ripple through the group.

The goal isn’t to become an “outdoor person.” The goal is to return to work with a sharper sense of how you show up, the impact you have, and the adjustments that will unlock your next level.

Matt Frye
Coach & Lead Guide

I’ve spent years coaching leaders and teams through moments of growth, conflict, and reinvention, while also logging plenty of miles on trails, ridgelines, and river corridors.

Venture Echo is a way of bringing those worlds together. Using simple outdoor journeys to surface the leadership patterns that are hardest to see in the boardroom, office, and over meeting apps in a place that encourages honesty.

I’m committed to making these experiences physically accessible, emotionally safe, and deeply relevant to the work you return to.

Background highlights: operations management, leadership coaching & facilitation, outdoor trip leading, organizational development, business process improvement, and a long-standing belief that the trail is one of the best mirrors we have.

Is Venture Echo a fit?

  • You’re curious, reflective, and willing to be honest about where you’re at.
  • You want more than a ropes course/team build. You want real conversations that change how you lead.
  • You’re open to being outdoors in all sorts of weather (within reason) and leaving laptops, tablets, etc., behind for a bit.
  • You care about psychological safety and want your people to feel respected and heard.

If this sounds like you, let’s talk about what an outing could look like in your region and season.

Step 1: Start the conversation

There’s no commitment in reaching out. We’ll talk through your context, comfort outdoors, time frame, and budget, and then propose one or two options that could work.

If we move forward, we’ll align on dates, location, routes, and any accessibility or dietary needs—then you’ll receive a detailed trip outline and packing guide.
